From screen time to cyberdiseases: a systematic scoping review of health outcomes from digital technology exposure, 2019–2024

A systematic scoping review of 389 studies mapping associations between digital technology exposure and health outcomes — mental, behavioural, visual, musculoskeletal and metabolic — conceptualised together as cyber-diseases. Screen time, used in 83% of clinical studies, proves an inadequate proxy; the paper proposes a multi-dimensional digital biomarker framework.
