Dr hab. n. med. Marcin Golec

Dr Golec is a medical doctor, medical informatician and a medical researcher with over twenty five years of interdisciplinary scientific experience working in such institutions as Pasteur Institute in Paris (Unit of Mycobacterial Genetics), Medical University in Vienna (Clinical Department of Pulmonary Medicine), Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow (Institute of Public Health) and Institute of Rural Health in Lublin (Head of Unit of Fibroproliferative Diseases). Since 2021 Dr Golec is a visiting researcher at the Digital Global Health Working Group, Heidelberg Institute of Global Health, University Hospital of the Heidelberg University.
Dr Golec is a co-author of over 40 research articles and one patent (inhalation chamber). He was a principal investigator in a number of research projects, including large scale 7th FP and medical informatics developments. In 2006 Dr Golec research on fibrotic diseases was granted the 1st Young Investigator Award by the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr Golec earned his MD in 1999 from the Medical University in Lublin and a PhD (with distinction) in occupational medicine in 2003 from the Institute of Rural Health in Lublin, Poland. In 2012 Dr Golec earned an MSc (with merit) in health economics from the London School of Economics and in 2018–2020 he accomplished postgraduate studies in biomedical informatics at the Stanford University. Dr Golec obtained a postdoctoral title in medical sciences in 2022.
